Low Flow Drip Irrigation

Low Flow Drip Irrigation

Maximizing water efficiency, enhancing crop health, and reducing system costs

Low Flow, High Impact

Low flow drip irrigation is an advanced method that delivers water slowly and precisely to the root zone using low-flow drippers - typically 0.7 – 1.0 liters per hour per emitter. Over the last few years, we have been leading the flow-reduction revolution, showing that reducing flow below 1.0 l/h can improve crop uniformity, yield and quality while providing significant hydraulic advantages.

What You Gain by Switching to Low Flow Drip Irrigation?

Reduction of system cost thanks to lower block flow rates, smaller valves, smaller diameter submains

When comparing same length of laterals, low flow, 0.7 & 1.0 L/H, has less pressure loss translating into lower system head requirement.

How does it work?

Historically systems are designed with an application rate of 1mm/Hr. Depending on crop type and climatic conditions the farm is divided into two or three shifts.

  • Lower flow rates allow systems to be designed with an application rate of 0.5 mm/Hr.
  • Shift sizes can be increased and the farm operated in one shift
  • Almonds are usually designed as two shifts, Low flow allow farms to be run in one shift
  • Fertigation, irrigation and system operating is simplified leading to greater efficiency
